How you can directly support undocumented organizers in Georgia with $7 a month
For over a decade, Dignidad Inmigrante en Athens (DIA) has worked to highlight the cultural and economic contributions that undocumented immigrants make to the United States and particularly in Georgia.
We are a local organization within Movimiento Cosecha’s national network, organizing our community for the long-term to win permanent protection, dignity, and respect for all 11 million undocumented immigrants.
This is the kind of work we do together at DIA:
- Organized the cultural festival LatinxFest for the 12th year, expanding to new cities we haven’t been able to reach before, Winder and Greensboro.
- Supported dozens of local immigrant families throughout the pandemic with weekly fresh food drop-offs and cash support as part of Cosecha’s national Undocumented Worker Fund
- Developed a campaign to end arrests for diving without a license in Athens county in 2018 — and won!
- Worked with local partners to bring health resources, clinics, and vaccines to community members
- Mobilized to Washington, DC for May 1 as part of Cosecha’s national Papers, Not Crumbs march, taking on President Biden’s broken promises on immigration reform
This local work is primarily sustained by volunteer immigrant organizers, like me. This month, we are launching a monthly sustainer program to ask for community support to continue our organizing work.
A recurring donation of any size — $3, $5, $25 or whatever you can afford — helps us maintain our programing and keep building momentum in Athens and throughout Georgia.
Our goal before the year ends is 50 monthly contributors! Will you become a monthly DIA sustainer and help us reach our goal?
